Celebrating two years of community

Aubrey Ann Parker, co-owner and editor of The Betsie Current newspaper, was interviewed on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, by Ed Ronco of Interlochen Public Radio (IPR) about the two-year anniversary of our Monthly Movie Club at The Garden Theater in Frankfort.

The collaboration between Kilwins of Frankfort, The Betsie Current, and The Garden Theater began back in October 2023 with a showing of Practical Magic (PG-13, 1998), starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as witch sisters.
Since then, we have shown 22 films (as of October 2025) and raised more than $6,300 for local nonprofits and charities through the Monthly Movie Club, showing “retro” movies from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s; additionally, we started a second club, Garden Classic Movies, in which we are showing films from the 1930s-1970s.
