We will learn some simple clowning techniques as well as how to create your very own Shakespearean clown character. You will write a joke in Elizabethan text, create a funny scene with a friend, and show off your sense of humor and fun with our evening performance at the Oliver Arts Center. The performance starts at 7pm and will also feature performances by Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre’s professional acting ensemble.

Reserve your spot in the free workshop by registering on Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre’s website: www.lakesideshakespeare.org. We have had over 400 children participate in our workshops throughout the years and have watched even the shyest and most distracted children latch onto the Bard and his characters and learn the confidence to perform ‘loud and proud’. It never ceases to amaze me how our workshops transform.”

The Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre was founded to share the thriving creative and artistic force of the Chicago Theatre community with the Benzie County community, and to establish a mutually beneficial relationship in art, theatre, and theatre education. Fans come from all over the globe to attend their packed performances and children’s Shakespeare Workshop each summer. Our programs are designed to introduce young people to Shakespeare in a fun, creative, hands on approach. At the center of our work is the pleasure of playing!

“If you desire the spleen, and will laugh yourselves into stitches, follow me.”

For more information, please see www.LakesideShakespeare.org, or email lakesideshakespeare@gmail.com.

Announcing Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre’s upcoming workshop, “Clowning with Shakespeare” on April 19, 2014.
