High School works are juried by special guest artists for display in the Beck Gallery, and area elementary and middle school works are accepted for display in the Borwell and Entrance Galleries.<\/p>\n<p>Last year saw the exhibition\u2019s highest number of participants from area schools including Frankfort-Elberta, Benzie Central, Interlochen, Mesick, and Traverse City. Over 200 pieces were on display and last year\u2019s jurors were thoroughly impressed with the level of excellence. 150 pieces were on display from area Elementary and Middle School students. \u2018The exhibition is a great way to get students and the community involved in the Art Center and has been a favorite exhibition for years. We are looking forward to seeing the fantastic art being submitted this year,\u2019 said Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors for this year are Dewey Blocksma, an artist from Beulah, MI whose work is included in many collections including the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Dennos Museum,<br \/>\nthe Time-Life Collection of Detroit, and the Johnson Toy Collection of NYC and Troy Deshano, an artist, designer, and illustrator from Traverse City.<\/p>\n<p>Certificates of Excellence will be presented during the Exhibition Opening on Friday, April 15 from 5pm-7pm.
