“Off the Page” Features Mystery Writer, August 22, 7pm

D.E. (Dan) Johnson brings his Detroit-based Will Anderson mystery series to the Darcy Library on Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. The early 20th century is the setting for Johnson’s four historical novels that involve murder, blackmail, organized crime, politics, and the inside story on early electric automobiles.

Johnson’s first book, The Detroit Electric Scheme, was one of Booklist’s Top Ten First Crime Novels of 2010 and won a 2011 Michigan Notable Book Award. He has published three additional books and covered topics from the beginnings of Detroit’s Purple Gang to the political turmoil of passing the amendment for women’s right to vote in Michigan.

“Off the Page” presentations take place at the Darcy Library, located on Commercial Street in Beulah. A reception and book-signing will follow Johnson’s presentation. Admission is free, with donations at the door welcome.
